Comments Thread For: Schaefer Likes The Idea of Amir Khan vs. Luis Collazo

Golden Boy Promotions CEO, Richard Schaefer, likes the idea of a welterweight fight between former champion Luis Collazo (35-5, 18KOs) and British star Amir Khan (28-3, 19KOs).

On Wednesday, Collazo's longtime trainer Nirmal Lorick told BoxingScene.com that his fighter is ready, willing, and able to face Khan as soon as possible.

Khan, inactive since last April's tough win over Julio Diaz, was a frontrunner to face Floyd Mayweather Jr. on May 3rd. Last week, Mayweather passed him over and selected Marcos Maidana as the pay-per-view opponent.

Khans speed and movement would give luie fits for the first half of the fight..the thing here is luies deceptive power, with only 18 knockouts he doesnt come off a a big puncher but with all that glass potentially in front of him,i wouldnt doubt that luie can break that glass chin, and get a knockout!.....

      Very interesting fight though......

Good fight. Luis takes out Khan mid to late rounds.

I dont care who Khan fights in vegas Collazo, Broner or Guerrero as long as hes on the May 3rd card.

As a Brit theres quite a few of us coming over to Vegas for the fight so I hope theres a couple of British fighters on

Schaefer wants to put Khan in fights he thinks he can win. I like the fight. Problem is.. Khan could very well lose to Collazo, that's why I'd rather see Khan-Broner.. Khan already has trouble facing taller fighters. Luis is 5'9 with 72" reach he may not be well known but he is a very experienced veteran fighter, he could time Khan like he did Ortiz, so If GBP is looking to make a fight were Khan looks good this isn't it...

This goes to the point of GBPs plan for Khan. A collazo win doesn't get him Floyd tho. And if he loses to collazo, then that's about it for him at the top. Not sure why this is better than broner.

Not really that interested in this. Don't see what it does for Khan
