If your going to say that oscar lost to sturm, you have to take out that he lost to tito, becuase the consensus on this board and anyone with a bit of remotly unbiased boxing knowledge knows that Oscar won that fight.
YOu win that majority of the rounds, you win the fight.
    Its simple.

Once a round ends, it ends. Nothing else that happend in the fight has anything to do with the round that already happened.
For example, Oscar won round 7. Because he ran like a ***** (which he did) in round 11, doesnt mean he should be penalized for winning round 7.

Hey, even DLH fans admit these fights were "maybe" robberies. Do I even gotta watch?

That's why scoring is "subjective". I had Tito winning very closely. Don't have my score with me at the moment; but I do remember tallying and findig that he won....if just barely.

I understand, but it was crystal clear that DLH won at least 7 rounds.
Scoring can only be so subjective before it gets ridiculous.

              • For example...I'm not a Tito nuthugger...never have been; but if I remember correctly, I had him winning just barely.

Oscar botched the biggest fight of his career to that point by "playing it safe". If Leonard hadn't gone after Hearns, he would have lost. If Frazier hadn't kept at Ali the first time, he would have lost. If Ali hadn't ****** it up after the 10th in the Thrilla, he woulda lost. If Robinson hadn't ****** it up after Turpin cut him in the rematch...he woulda lost.

You can't play it safe in the spotlight. You have to fight smart; but fight like it means something. Sometimes it back-fires, as it did with Taylor in the first Chavez fight; but, cliche or no...no guts, no glory. That's why Hopkins lost his title to Taylor and why he didn't regain it.

                Oscar blew it. Nuff said.

Leonard was losing, and by alot, so he had to pick it up. Those were all very close fights, unlike this one where DLH won the first 7 rounds.
The judges blew it for oscar.

My point is that the expectations and the stakes for the fight were HUGE. Anytime the stakes are that monumenous in a fight, you have to lay it all on the line. Trinidad did...ineptly early on, granted; but the impression was he wanted it more.

I don't know how judges score fights some times. I really don't. Hell, I'm going to have to go back now and watch this over just to make sure I did really score it for Tito because I remember how Oscar was schooling him. But in the heat of the moment, at the event, with all that tension in the air and in the crowd...tension that subconciously effects the most unbiased of judges, you gotta lay it down to give yourself the best chance of securing a win. In fights like that...good ain't always good enough.
