Comments Thread For: Arreola-Stiverne Rematch in Play For 6/21 in Mexico

On Tuesday, promoter Don King traveled to Mexico for a meeting with Cancun Boxing CEO Pepe Gomez, and local officials, to discuss the details of a planned card in Villahermosa in June. According to the promoters, the main event of the evening will feature a showdown between heavyweights Bermane "B. Ware" Stiverne (23-1-1, 20 KO's) and Chris "The Nightmare" Arreola (36-3, 31 KO's), who will collide in a rematch for the vacant World Boxing Council heavyweight crown that was vacated by Vitali Klitschko.

    Too long of a wait.

It should be in April, they've been negotiating since November 2013 when Vitali retired.

Very late. And I had hoped that Stiverne finaly got rid of Don King...

For the sake of boxing I feel like having to wish Arreola wins this... Despite believing that Stiverne deserves it...

I dislike the lateness furtermore, I had hoped for to title defenses this year (vs Wilder and vs somebody) and then a Unification with Wladimir in early 2015...

I wonder if Arreola can control his weight during such a long period.

I think he can. He seems to really want this rematch.

Arreola is the boy who cried slimfast. Im tired of the same old "he's serious about training now" and "he's lost so much weight" blah blah blah. The man is naturally lazy. Why do we give him credit for being "serious now" when he's a fkn boxer and should always be serious about his weight and training? Stiverne is going to beat him again and Arreola will be come the gatekeeper that he is meant to be.

this makes things tough now. was planning on 10-14 days in cuba starting june 22. i was going to spend the 1st week in Havana to check out the Cuban boxing finals 24-29 then go to varadero. now 10 days in cancun would be pretty cool as well. cheap booze, beautiful women, beaches & ocean, bullfights & a world heavyweight title match... executive decisions to make soon...
