Can boxing sustain 6 PPV cards a year?

There will be 4 PPVs by early June. And at least two more when Pac and Floyd fight again.

Can't see this trend continuing. When Manny and Floyd retire PPV cards might slow down considerably, which would be great. A lot will depend on how the Cinnabon/Perro fight performs.

I honestly have no problem with the amount of PPVs a year as long as they are all great fights. Personally, I LOVE all of the PPVs arranged so far.

The costs have gone up, I end up paying about $70-75 for the HD feed but for me it's more than a card, it's an event. I love the entire experience of a PPV, from the pre-fight buildup, to the weigh in to the actual night of the fight. It's just really exciting for me personally and I feel the price justifies the experience I get out of it. Especially knowing I don't have to worry about the feed, reliable crystal clear HD broadcast.. all I have to worry about is my fighters winning.

Why anyone would pay for Canelo vs Angulo is beyond me.

I'm not paying for PPV anymore. I'll stream it. It's only hurting the sport, making it more obscure then it already is being stuck on premium pay networks.

It will be a VERY EXCITING fight to watch, that's why. The card is not bad either. This fight will take Canelo into deep waters against someone who has heavy hands. In fact this is one of my top 3 PPVs this year for me personally in terms of ENTERTAINMENT. I love come forward pressure fighters like Angulo that pack heavy hands, always makes for an exciting night.

Things that will happen in this fight will be talked about for weeks. I see Canelo getting knocked down..

Why do you need to pay 70 bucks to get excited? PPV is a BAD thing. Sure, i want fighters to make money but its getting out of control

WWE runs what 13 ppv a year, 12 are about equal with one bigger one.

              MMA runs tons also

So boxing can easily run 6, now they couldn't be 6 monsters but 3 they were doing 3 monster ones for years I don't think those would be very much effect by the other three.

The other three they need to be a bit more thoughtful with to make money but as long as they don't overpay the talent, put them to close to the blockbusters and put on quality product the other 3 could also make money.

Why is PPV a bad thing~

It gives the consumer the ultimate choice you don't have to buy, you are paying for entertainment. Other mediums you have no say, they make fights they think you want to see (using the money gained from your eyeballs or subscription fee), with PPV they make fights they think people want but you can vote on the fight with your pocket book.

They also allow things to happen that would otherwise be impossible, or do you only want to see 4 fights a year on HBO and Showtime because their budget would get killed.

Well that is entertainment for you, it is not free... well most of it! I pay monthly for DirecTV to get entertained, I pay monthly for HBO/SHO to get entertained, I pay monthly for PS Plus to get entertained, I pay monthly for Netflix to get entertained, I pay for games to get entertained, I pay to watch a movie in the theatre to get entertained...

Point is, entertainment and getting excited (lol) costs money in our society. You pay for the experience, well at least I do (I like to stay legal and get the best quality possible).

To me, a $70 PPV is just as good a purchase as a $65 game. It satisfies my entertainment needs. And I'm a video freak, so quality has to be crystal clear... same with audio. That is just me personally.

I do get your point... the sport needs as most exposure as it can get and limiting it's audience by putting it on PPV doesn't help. BUT for those who do see the value in it, it is fine.
