  • Comments Thread For: De La Hoya on Arum, Top Rank-Golden Boy Cold War

Golden Boy Promotions President and founder Oscar De La Hoya gave the media and fans a surprise as he attended Saul “Canelo” Alvarez’s media workout in San Diego, CA. De La Hoya had not attended any boxing related events since he admitted himself into rehab last September but was on hand to support one of the biggest stars on his stable who fights March 8th against Alfredo Angulo at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, NV.

I don't recall him saying he wouldn't work with HBO anymore.

Nice statement from ODLH, but it's the old good cop (ODLH), bad cop (Schaefer) routine. Unfortunately for TR, Bob Arum tries unsuccessfully to play both roles. Honestly, I don't think either camp cares what the fans think, so long as they support the fights and the fighters in both camps. They are all fighters, and fighters don't kiss, hug, and make-up (except Victor Ortiz), fighters love a fight!

Was he not suppose to stage his fight; after that they still did fights on HBO so again he never said he wouldn't or didn't want to work with HBO.

Read above. This is where the battle between the 2 companies originated according to ESPN.

I'm hopeful the cold war ends and they do so with a MOnster card in September:

Floyd (assuming he beats Maidana) v winner manny/tim

Danny G v Provodnikov (assuming both stil JWW champs)

                  Mares v DOnaire
