Reid was never the same after Tito He was a young contender who was thrown in the ring with a monster who had one of the best left hooks in boxing.

It was the detached retina that knocked him out of boxing, wasn't it? I'm sure the Tito fight was pretty demoralizing as well. Maybe it took the fight out of him, like Cory Spinks' loss to Zab.

I used to enjoy watching him fight but have not heard of him in ages. He used to be a talented fighter but had a habbit of dominating the first half of his fights and then pretty much packing his bags. I know he got spanked ny tito and last time i saw him was on friday night fights squeezing out a decision.
            Cheers.
He got a detached retina. Its like a death sentence for a boxer. It why Sugar Ray Leonard retired and why the couple of comback fights he was so afraid of getting hit. If you continue to fight with a detached retina A) you can easily detach it again B) with the impact of a punch detach your good eye (detached eyes are always degraded and never as good as they were originally)
Basically your putting yourself in a position to be blind!

his biggest mistake was fighting tito way too early in his career but he would have been fine beaten but fine had he not injured his eye so badly.
he had to fight with one eye the tale end of what should have been his road to fame and glory.
thats bad luck and bad management by his team.
when did and why would he fight jeff lacy?

I think this is a big part of the downfall of Reid. There are other factors i think that should be rasied.

Firstly Reid's chin was not good. He was always gonna be vunerable. he had a decent right hand but not enough power to compensate for the chin.

He was badly managed. Reid was dropped twice i believe by James Coker in the fight before Tito.

Coker wasn't a ****er and his management shouldn't have thrown him to the dogs, especially being only his 15th pro fight. If he had had more experience he might have been able to have not get hit as much and would hve had a chance of winning.

Its a shame, but its also boxing.
