  • Comments Thread For: Salido Feels Good About a Late KO Win on Lomachenko

WBO featherweight champion Orlando Salido (40-12-2, 28 KO's) feels two-time Olympic gold medal winner Vasyl Lomachenko (1-0, 1 KO) has bitten off more than he can chew. The Ukraine fighter is trying to win a world title in his second pro fight, when he face Salido this coming Saturday at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. Lomachenko made his debut last October, knocking out experienced Jose Ramirez.

This is an extremely interesting fight, because I remember Lomachenko saying in an interview that he felt uncomfortable in his first professional fight due to the fact that he had to limit his punch output. It's clear the Lomachenko still isn't fully accustomed to fighting 10 rounders. If Lomachenko is conditioned enough, then I can see him cruising to a UD.

However, if Lomachenko is not 110% ready, then I definitely see him gassing out during the later rounds. I can imagine we could be seeing something a la Margarito - Cotto I, where the better boxer eventually gets worn down and whittled to nothing. It'll be one hell of a match and I can't wait to see who wins either way.

It is premature of Salido to state how he feels as he has yet to feel his beating. After receiving 700 to 800 punches then he should tell us how he feels about his late knockout.

In fact, I don't see how Lomachenko can beat Salido at all. I might be too overconfident but I see a Salido victory as sure thing. We'll see though if I'm wrong.

More excited about this one than the main event.
