Way to early to determine if a fighter with 1 pro fight, will be greater than the GOAT Sugar Ray Robinson. Like saying a college prospect has the possibility to surpass GOAT MJ.

In boxing and many other sports has had many prospect who just don't do justice to they're hype. Many can be named today. And in boxing where even in the amatuers you are fighting and getting beaten in the head, over time it has showed problems.

Let's wait after he wins a title, defends the title, move up in weight and do so while looking unbeatable. Then we can make Se determination if this guy is some what as great as Robinson

Add Danny and Thurman somewhere in there.
        It's still not enough.

Actually it doesn't even get him to the number 2 slot of Henry Armstrong.

I would consider changing my mind if he did that then beat Sergio or Golovkin, whoever is lineal MW champion.

          Surely more people box now.

Boxing is a world sport and there are an extra 4 billion people in the world too.

And most of the fighting men have not been ravaged by war.

Training methods have improved, as well as nutrition and sports science.

well my assumption that fewer people box now comes from boxing's reduced mainstream presence. fewer fans = fewer practitioners, right? i wouldn't say that boxing is particularly more global now than it was in the past, except for the arrival of the former soviet bloc and southeast asia, perhaps. densely populated regions like africa, subcontinental asia, china, brazil, and large swathes of europe are still pretty barren in terms of world class boxing talent.

Pretty sure less people box now, but I can't find a source. I've certainly seen it before.

There has been a significant rise in boxing over the last 20 years, a 60% rise or more.

                Boxing is huge now.
