This sums it up. When you're up and coming you have to take risks to get to where you want to be, but when you're the guy calling the shot and bringing the money, you can more or less fight who you want. The Clottey and Trout fights were pretty ****** for him to take, but he did, and that's why I'm a huge fan. You can never question Cotto's career.
Fearless boxers that never ducked anyone

might get flamed for this but i disagree with the cotto comments....and pretty much every other boxer named. I how do u determine fearless exactly? Is it the guy that has fought who YOU thought they should have fought when they fought them? What if the fighter is willing, but they get a better offer with more money on the table that will help them support their family. Are they a coward or fearless for taking the fight? What if they are willing but their promoter/trainer/manager etc doesnt want it for them. Do they get penalized for that? For every boxer out there, you could probably come up with a name of someone you personally thought they should have fought at a certain point in time that they didnt. Or maybe you believe that every fighter is fearless for stepping in the ring in the first place.
I remember a time when the (arguably) top dogs at 140 were: Floyd, Tzu, Gatti, and Hatton. And how many of these guys did cotto fight?Comment

The two times Cotto previously had the chance to fight mayweather his trainer/father said he wasnt ready at 140 (after floyd fought gatti) and he never even made an offer to fight mayweather after the dlh fight at 147. Does that mean cotto ducked mayweather?or maybe his trainer did the right thing for his fighter at the time and maybe cotto was waiting on floyd to offer the fight first? I mean Cotto DID take the fight when floyd offered it at 154 with NO PROBLEMS. Fearless or a Duck?
Floyd left the ww division for almost two yrs. In that time, Mosley, Marg, Cotto, all fought each other 1 time. Does that mean floyd ducked the good fighters in the ww division. I know two are top rank, but mosley wasnt right?
or after floyd made his first 25 million dollars ever and making the highest ppv ever AND beating Dlh at 154 (he was chasing oscar since i believe 135), he really did feel like he accomplished all he wanted to accomplish in the boxing world at that point and really had enough money to retire and rest his brittle ass hands. I mean he did come back after it was reported the IRS was on his ass. Fearless or a Duck?
Pacquiao was given a boxing lesson by Morales. Morales moved up to fight zahir raheem and the winner was to fight pac. Zahir gave Morales that same boxing lesson and instead of rightfully giving Zahir his well earned fight, pac chose to have morales come back down in weight to fight him again(which sparked the "pac is scared to fight slick fighters" rumors). Was pac scared to fight zahir for fear Zahir's style was all wrong for him, or because Pac vs Morales was so big and good the first time, everyone and their mom knew the second fight was gonna do numbers ANNND pac chose to rematch the man who just beat him. Fearless or a Duck?
There are a million examples like these for probably every high/elite boxer. shiddd probably the only people who wouldnt have these kinds of choices is journey men lol.Comment

he had a fractured cheekbone not a broken jaw. and no boxer at this level fears anyone, its the promoters and managers who are looking after their investments. if you have it in you to fear another man you will never reach world level, you have to overcome countless "boogeymen" to reach this level.Comment
