Zou Shiming improved his chances of a world title shot when he defeated Yokthong Kokietgym in Macau on Saturday. The Chinese flyweight registered the first stoppage win of his professional career with a victory in the seventh round.
The two-time Olympic Games champion controlled the bout from early on and dropped Yokthong, from Thailand, three times before the referee stopped the bout in the penultimate round.
The 32-year-old Zou meted out heavy punishment in the fifth and sixth rounds and knocked down Yokthong, 19, with a powerful shot in the seventh and then twice more.
