Comments Thread For: Randy Caballero-Kohei Oba in Play For IBF Title Shot

Nicaraguan boxer Randy Caballero is going in another direction with respect to his final eliminator for a crack at the bantamweight title of the International Boxing Federation (IBF).

Matchmaker Robert Diaz of Golden Boy Promotions has confirmed that his company has struggled to reach to an agreement with Jamie McDonnell, to face Caballero on April 19 in England.

Apparently, McDonnell is having problems with his handlers and for that reason, Golden Boy made a request to the IBF to appoint another highly qualified opponent.

I used to work with this Caballero boy's cousin. So I've been keeping up with him for awhile. I'm not really impressed.

I'm not gonna even pretend to be up on the state of the bantamweight division. When I found out Caballero was my co-worker's cousin, I watched him a lil on youtube and tuned in one night when he headlined Shobox. I don't see a future elite. But, he hs Oscar's money behind him. And a glance at boxrec says that the road to a belt that GBP has laid out for him is against two fighters barely in boxrec's top 20 bantamweights. Doesn't get much easier than that. All I can say is that I'd advise is that if he wins the belt, don't try and unify with Chemito Moreno. He loses that one 12-0.

Been following the kid since his debut (hometown kid). His competition so has been dreadful. He has some boxing skills. He just doesn't have much power or even speed to make up for it, BUT golden boy seems like they wanna manufacture something outta him so who knows?
