The way most are dismissing Cotto's chances on here, he better get full credit.

More impressive win? Cotto or Martinez?

Martinez should win easily so I would not think any more of him for doing what I thought he would do. I give Cotto almost no chance to win but if he did win I would have to rate him higher than I do now. Check out the Vagas betting odds and I think Martinez will be at least a 3 to 1 betting favorite.

If Sergio is at 85%, he destroys Murray, Quillin and Sturm. After Sergio beats Cotto to a pulp, he is going to end the Golovkin hype train once and for all.

martinez went so long looking for big fights, complaining the big names didnt take risks and didnt give him a chance. once he got on top he became worse than anyone else of his era, picking on second rate MWs and smaller guys coming up. cotto is past his prime, small at 154 let alone 160 and his punch resistance isnt the same anymore.
martinez knows this and thats why he wants this fight. ggg, geale, murray, sturm, stevens and quillen all beat him, most of them by KO and he isnt willing to take those risks. tbh i don even think he is willing to fight a quality, well sized 154lber.
Also keep in mind Martinez started his career at 147 and only moved up because nobody wanted to fight him. Unlike most middleweights he only rehydrates to about 165-67 so there won't be much of a weight difference between Martinez and Cotto on fight night.
To answer the thread question if Cotto wins it will be the biggest win on his resume by far. If Martinez is at 65% or more he should embarrass Cotto.
Originally posted by #1Assassin View Postdude wants the welterweights, nothing impressive about that. we arent talking about welterweights who want to come up either, who called him out or fought someone else at 160. hes calling out guys who never said anything about him or fighting at MW before. we arent even talking about solid welterweights for the most part. martinez has become a disgrace to the title.
Cotto is officially a 154 pounder, he's already had 6 fights there and has campaigned at the weight for the last 4-5 years. With that logic you might as well call Martinez a welterweight or JMW.
