Comments Thread For: Angulo: Eye Will Not Become a Problem With Canelo

Alfredo Angulo (22-3, 18KOs) is already close to the junior middleweight limit, as he continues training for his upcoming fight with former WBC/WBA 154-pound champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (42-1-1, 30KOs), on March 8th from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

More importantly, Angulo ensures that his left eye is 100%. During last June's fight with Erislandy Lara, the fight was on the table in the championship rounds, and Lara had been down twice, when Angulo suffered an injury to his left eye in the tenth round and could not continue.

Sadly I see it being a huge problem in this fight.

This the attitude he has to have . He can't go into a fight worried about the eye . If the eye goes bad he'll cross that bridge when he comes to it.

Ughh, I hope not! BUT... it is highly likely it might swell up again due to his punch absorbing style. It has to be a war though if Angulo wants to come out victorious so let it be what it's gonna be! WAAAAAAAR!! WOOF WOOF!! PERROOO!!!!!

I hope it don't, it would be a shame and most likely be very anti climatic.

The eye concerns me slightly. IF it holds up I think Angulo is a very live underdog here. (5:1 odds, crazy!)

that's why Angulo needs to just go crazy on canelo until he cracks him in the face, he has to hurt him and early!! then by the later rounds canelo will fold

Canelo can't target it like Lara.
He can't throw combos unless his feet are set and he has his opponent trapped.Angulo will never give him a chance

Hopefully it wont be an issue at all because it would definitely affect the way the fight plays out. I just hope to see both men come in at 100% and put on a great fight for the fans and for themselves.

Cotto-Marg 2 has popped into my head about this fight... I haven't had much luck finding a good article that describes the extent of the injury. Was te orbital really broken or...just injured resulting in pain and the swelling/hematoma? lol i guess it doesn't matter. In any case, I would hate to see it become a factor because the last thing Angulo needs is to be taken off his pace, letting Canelo dictate
