I need to rewatch that. I couldn't see if he was bending down with his arms up or bending down with his arms down. I jsut saw him bending down.

But you get what I'm saying though. dude was in the last minute of the last round and it looked like the ref was quick to jump in.

Stevens was too inactive for me while Johnson was too active.... that's just me
Johnson's activity and Stevens lack of it was the main reason why I was giving rounds to Johnson because Stevens punches were doing more damage.

Think I was 3-5-1 for Johnson or something heading into the 10th.

Yeah, if it was on activity it was close to a shut-out but I felt Johnson was hurt repeatedly during the fight, harder shots were Stevens. He recovered every time, until the last round.

Ref was clearly on Stevens side, but that's boxing for you.

            Yeah, no doubt.

Heartbreaking loss for Johnson. My respect to both though.

poor stoppage, like always, when the fighter who is supposed to lose is getting hurt, refs are jumping in at once, that needs to stop. Johnson got caught but he already recovered when the ref stopped it. Would have won this fight easily, won 6 of the 9 rounds so far.

Some fighters only need one shot. John Molina-Mickey Bey springs to mind. Power, the great equaliser.

Was it premature? A bit, but the guy was quite out on his feet. When the ref first jumped in, Johnson had an expressionless look, about 2-3 seconds later he snapped out of it and started complaining.

I would have liked at least one more good shot land, but long grueling fights when a fighter is tired and hurt and that one more punch can be dangerous. If it was earlier in the fight and it ended like that I would have been outraged. Late in a long fight it does not bother me as much.

I think we'll probably see more of it. Mago incident has definitely had an effect. Refs now have the excuse to stop it a touch early (as in UK). In saying that, better safe that sorry imo, Johnson was badly hurt and Stevens's left hand is no joke that situation.
