  • Comments Thread For: Kovalev's Manager: It Was Not Easy To Get a 3/29 Foe

Last week it was announced that the world light heavyweight champion of the WBO, 30-year-old Russian boxer Sergei Kovalev (23-0-1, 21KOs), would defend his belt against 27-year-old American Cedric Agnew (26-0, 13KOs) on March 29th in Atlantic City. Kovalev's manager, Egis Klimas, said it was very difficult to get an opponent for the March date, because a lot of fighters turned them down and the pickings were very slim to find someone who the WBO, and HBO, would approve.

Say that **** to Lara and Rigondeaux.

Lara, Rigondeaux and Kovalev are most feared boxers today.

Hopefully neither Kovalev or Stevenson lose before they fight this year. That would suck.

            It's unlikely either will lose.

The Quebec media reported today Stevenson's promoter said the fight may be on September 27 in Montreal.

Kovalev is the best 175 lb man in the world. His trouble is he's too good. Some potential opponents may fear fighting him would ruin their careers. When he takes Adonis's rights to those belts away the sanctioning bodies may have to close the division.

Kovalev is not going to lose; Stevenson is less certain.
