Haye might have been unreliable, but no one in their right mind would have turned down a Haye fight and 5 million pounds in favour of a fight with Pulev and 100k. that doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Even from the publicity he's received from the Haye shenanigans, his profile has risen a lot in the UK.
Further than that, everyone knows it doesn't matter whether you're the mandatory or not, Wlad will give Fury a call sooner or later - that's for sure. And he still wouldn't make 1/5 of what he'd make against Haye (even though the fight never happened).
Tyson Fury was offered a spot in the IBF final eliminator against Kubrat Pulev after he beat Steve Cunningham.
His supporters will say he wanted a financially more rewarding fight against David Haye, but the truth is he never made a penny because there was no fight against Haye. The Furys should have known Haye is unreliable. Fury actually LOST money in training costs for a fight that never happened.
So, having had the chance to become Wladimir Klitschko's mandatory, Tyson Fury shouldn't whine and moan about not being able to land a fight against Wladimir.
Wladimir now has to fight his mandatories: first WBO mandatory Leapai, then IBF mandatory Pulev.
Fury had an offer to fight Wlad as a voluntary back in 2012, but Fury's management said "not yet". Then last year he had a chance to fight Pulev and become IBF mandatory, and chose to pass on it.
Fury has had his chances to fight Wlad, but now he'll have to wait in line. He should behave like a grown man and stop whining about it.
To be fair, they couldn't have expected Haye to pull out twice of that one.
I'd much rather Fury went down the WBC route and take on Wilder. That fight would exciting.
I think Fury would possibly get stopped by Wlad but I think it is more likely he gets thrown out.
Wlad vs. Fury will make LOTS of PPV money in the UK.
There's ZERO chance of Wlad vs Fury going on PPV in the UK, and it most certainly wouldn't make him anywhere near the same amount of money as a Haye fight.
