no they weren't. the commentary was a joke. saying how groves was dominating when every single round was competitive. groves landed some nice single punches but froch's heavy combos to the head and body were landing as well. anything from 6-2 groves to 4-4 was acceptable with froch in clear command of round 9. the groves was dominating narrative doesn't fit with reality. another classic case of underdog doing better than people thought so people overcompensate in their scoring. even their eyeballs stop working correctly.
round 1-very competitive till froch gets dropped so 10-8
round 2 and 3-super close and could easily go to froch
round 4-another super close round maybe groves just got it
round 5-froch clearly
round 6-groves hurts froch badly but froch comes back and hurts groves and dominates the last 2 minutes or so although groves still prob gets it
round 7-groves but close and competitive
round 8-froch but close and competitive
round 9-competitive until froch hurts groves and gets the early stoppage
there was no round where groves just breezed through dancing on his toes popping froch with punches and dominating while taking zero punishment. people act like it was floyd-canelo and froch just got a lucky stoppage. not true. watch the fight without dumbazz mcguigan commentary.
The fight was more competitive than most make it seem, but Groves was started to slow down to be fair and Froch did legitimately hurt him. I had it 6-2 Groves at the time of the stoppage with 9 definitely looking like another Froch round
