Antonio Demarco in recent memory plain and simple because in rich countries like U.S/U.K and Canada atleast you have opportunities to move up unlike the developing world where theres elements pushing you behind even with all the talent in the world. Thats why id give stories of ppl outside of North America/Europe the edge in regards to level of hardships.

He moved with his aunt for boxing reasons and she kicked em out so he lived on streets, ate outta garbage cans and got adopted by the boxing community and later became a World Champion.

Manny Pacquiao and Edwin Valero are another great mentions. Pac we all know but Valero sold fruits at a stand at age 7 and got a job in a boxing gym and there blossomed in to a two weight world champion.

Boxing is riddled with these incredible stories. Edison Miranda's and Kassim Ouma's stories are pretty amazing as well.

bernard hopkins.......who would have thought a guy coming off a 5 year prison stint with 13 years probation and losing his first professional fight would be where he is today.....

i was always split between muhammad ali, a guy who was banned from boxing by the goverment after he won an olympic gold medal for them and manny pacquiao, a perfect example of rags to riches story. both fighters' influence extend to hundreds of millions of people around the world
