I scored it a draw because i gave the 11th to maidana but i wouldn't disagree with 7-5 to mayweather if you gave him that round. The 11th was tough to score because mayweather dominated early but maidana was very consistent throughout the round. I think he figured floyd out in the 12th though.

Watched the fight again:
My scorecard:
R1: 10-9 Maidana (clear round)
R2: 10-9 Maidana
R3: 10-9 Maidana (close round)
R4: 10-9 Maidana
R5: 10-9 Maidana (clear round)
R6: 10-9 Mayweather (clear round)
R7: 10-9 Mayweather (clear round)
R8: 10-9 Maidana (clear round)
R9: 10-9 Mayweather (clear round)
R10: 10-9 Mayweather (clear round)
R11: 10-10 50/50 round (close round)
R12: 10-9 Maidana
116-113 w/the 10-10 round or 115-113 if I give the eleventh to Floyd/or 116-112 to Maidana. Like I said, rounds 3 and 11 were close and can be flipped, perhaps 114-114 if we give Floyd the two close rounds. Rounds 2 and 4 I thought Maidana definitely won but not as clearly as the 'clear rounds' in bold. I could see it as 115-113 Mayweather but it just seems more feasible to score it 115-113 Maidana.
Maidana seemed to dictate the pace throughout most of the fight and landed many right hands and left-hooks throughout--the body work was impressive too, Mayweather only seemed to land good punches in spots and they were few and far between outside of the rounds he won clearly.
First 5 rounds was Maidana's. he was the aggressors and had the ring generalship.
Easy to pick 2 more rounds for Maidana after the 5th.Comment

I am seeing Pacquiao and Margarito's names being thrown around, as if they are Marcos Maidana.
This is about as bad as Calzaghe fans claiming every Hopkins win enhances Calzaghe's legacy. Why are Margarito and Pacquiao getting credit for Maidana's effort?
First, Pacquiao fights absolutely nothing like Maidana, a swarmer who throws punches even to the back of the head and is very sloppy, is his own good way. He is sloppy, but in a way that benefits him, but still sloppy. 140-147 Pacquiao is not a sloppy guy, and although he throws punches from different angles, he does not throw rabid punches and rams his head into his opponents face. Pac is also no where near being an inside fighter, like Maidana likes to do, he likes to smother his opponent, grab one of their arm and hit you with hooks to the back and side of your head with his free hand. If you grab Pac, he will stare at the ref to come and break it up.
Margarito was humiliated by Shane Mosley, lost to Santos and Williams. I don't even know why he is in the discussion. Oooooh Margarito beat a prime undefeated Kermit Cintron and Joshua Clottey, two hall of famers that proved why Margarito was one of the greatest welterweights who ever lived.Comment

Exactly. Styles make fights. They're very hypocrite. They always play the "Floyd doesn't fight like Marquez" card when it suits their agenda, but whenever Floyd had a tough fight against a tough inside fighter, they're the first to get carried away and use the "Manny is faster, punches harder, more relentless pressure fighter" card.
They don't attack the same way when they have their opponents against the ropes. Manny has an easier attacking rhythm and pattern to predict when he has his opponent on the ropes. He'll take a step forward and backward, and then throw straight punches and then do it again when he has his opponents against the ropes, but he gives his opponents enough space to set up their counter shots. If you have good timing and reaction time, then you can timed and offset him on the way in.
It's totally different to the way Maidana attack his opponents and carries over with all of his weight and just maul them on the inside with looping overhand punches all over the top of their head and he's more rugged and harder to push off and create counter-punching space against because he leans in with his head on his opponent's chest and smoother/out-muscle them until they can tie him up for the ref to break it up.
I hate when fans try to make Manny something that he isn't to fit their agenda, then get mad when other people use it against them by comparing other fighters who have beaten and gave him in tough fights in the past to Floyd. Manny is a mid-range pressure fighter, he's not a rough inside pressure fighter where he give his opponent/s little to no choice but to fight on the inside against the ropes. Manny always want to fight on the outside and at mid-range and doesn't fight dirty. Styles make fights. Manny is an aggressive fighter, but he brings a totally different type of aggression that wouldn't consistently work against Floyd. Apples and oranges.Last edited by Carpe Diem; 05-05-2014, 07:59 PM.Comment

A true fan that understands what really happened that night.

The actor says:
Floyd got bullied. Maidana hit tons of body shots.
First 4-5 rounds was Maidana's.
I don't know man, you can't win a fight with this guy (Floyd)
Floyd got bullied. People were quiet in the front row.Comment

Well, I know what I saw (about 7-5 for Chino with my eyes) in a great, close, fight. I'm logging out for a few days just to let things settle down around here, and because I have stuff to do.
My last word is, "Clean punching, when roughly tied in number of landed punches, that fails to produce effective aggression, and fails to facilitate ring generalship, is worth less than hard volume punching that bullies the other guy, produces effective aggression, and allows for ring generalship." Round after round that's my bottom line in this fight.Comment
