Ellerbe is a ***, i think tonight was the realization that Floyd is not only fighting a puncher, but difference this time is a puncher who actually wants to inflict damage, not here to win by looking slick or great. Ellerbe wants Maidana to wear those padded Grants gloves to save Floyd from a potential beating.

Hope to God Maidana wears those red Everlast ones that were approved.

People are seriously showing some high degrees of ignorance in this thread. Fight night gloves are shipped directly to the commission. Everlast isn't going to risk their whole company on making crap gloves.

All everlast MX gloves look like that, and don't have hardly any padding in the knuckles. Numerous boxers use them. Ellerbe who doesn't know **** about the sport complained and Floyd followed suit.

Now in an attempt not to look totally ****ing ****** they are going on some grand journey to change the land scape of boxing to not have everlast mx gloves legal in the future.

This whole debacle is out of one guys (ellerbe) ignorance to the reality of boxing gloves.

Fact of the matter is that the blue gloves were not approved. Fair enough they won't use them.

But the red gloves WERE approved so they have no choice but to accept the commissions ruling, Floyd and his team are so f***ing arrogant, they think they run this sport, literally.

Don't be surprised if the fight doesn't go down this is no marketing ploy, this is just typical diva behaviour from Floyd.

That is getting incredibly embarrassing for TMT. Those Everlast MX gloves are being used for a couple years now by multiple fighters, Cotto used the same gloves against Floyd (10oz version because of higher weight limit). They suddenly want to ban approved gloves that have been used for years in Nevada? After the weigh in, one day before the fight? Are you kidding me? If this gets through because of the power of money, then i am probably done with the sport.

The blue ones were somewhat custom made for this fight and didnt get approved because you know, they were not stock gloves, not wrapped up so whatever could have happened to them, there was that offical guy from Everlast though who had multiple still wrapped stock gloves which all got approved by the commission.

But Floyd doesnt want to use them! They want to ban these gloves and say there is no fight if Maidana is using these approved gloves.

Not a big deal at all, that is why they have multiple gloves available...pick another one and FIGHT ON!

Horsehair Padding are known as "PUNCHES GLOVES" the Padding IS REDUCED or at least it feels that way.

Fans need to do their research instead of just rushing to the forums to talk **** about fighters when they know NOTHING about Gloves:
