A real and true duck from Provodnikov, no matter how you split it, picking a potential fight w/Alvarado instead is suspect. Yet another duck from Pacman because he feels the judges would score against him. This is coming from a man who wants to keep his legacy going, but he is cherry picking beyond cherry picking every situation, the hole is dug. Marquez has shed blood and sweat to entertain our boxing needs throughout his career, but he should have retired when he knocked out Pac, instead of leading hungry boxing enthusiasts to 1 loss and a diva like attitude towards his legacy..
20 years from now, no one will care about whether or not he fought Provodnikov. They'll just remember the Pacquiao KO.

    • Makes no damn sense. JMM claims he didn't need the title Provodnikov took from Alvarado so fighting him did not interest him yet he wants to fight the man Provodnikov KO'ed as if that makes sense! Alvarado may be damaged goods. I don't think he can beat even a 40 year old JMM. Damn it, I hope I'm wrong about that. JMM is a pooosy for not fighting Provodnikov, which btw I think he can easily outbox to a clear UD.

      • Packy NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER KNOCKED OUT MARQUEZ and NEVER WOULD'VE!!!

Packy got 7,559 seconds in the ring with MARQUEZ THE GREAT and yet DIDN'T put him away! Imagine the price at a Sports Memorabilia Auction for the gloves MARQUEZ THE GREAT wore that put Packy to sleep? PRICELESS!

        • Marquez, if Manny beats Bradley, why do you not want the 5th title ? and the gigantic payday that goes along with it. A lot of people thought your KO of Manny was just pure luck, why not prove them wrong. 5TH TITLE ! BIG PAYDAY ! FANTASTIC RETIREMENT FIGHT !

I'm not saying Provodnikov will have anything to add to his legacy, all I am saying is that he is clearly ducking 2 fighters that can possibly beat him, one being a champion. Whether he loses his next bout against whoever, we will still remember him for his legendary K.O. So go out with your balls still in your hand, fight these guys.

            • Then just retire Marquez. The 5th title is what he wants right? So if Manny beats Bradley then he would have to fight Manny to get it and if Bradley wins Marquez is not going to beat him. Either way he is not going to get a 5th title so just retire.

Marquez gets a pass. He's old and either wants to be properly compensated or add to his legacy. If that's a duck then whatever.

I was always a big fan of the guy, but these days
I'm kinda in the same boat. Always liked him but his approach to this "keep this feeling" is going to be looked at differently as time goes on by those that like him too. Reason is that he is saying that and NOT retiring. Now some of us even gave him a break when he said that he is looking to win another title as his next big accomplishment. Well now he is saying that is only the case IF it's anyone but Manny. WHAT????

This is the same Marquez that begged several times for a fight with Manny and got 4!!! The same Marquez that wants a second fight when he was the clear loser against Bradley. Kinda two faced .... can't believe this is who Marquez has become.

                    • Marquez won fights 3 and 4 so there should be a 5th fight IMO

however if its never made, that KO in fight 4 is a great close to the rivalry
