I consider it more of a true personal test to his toughness and intelligence as a fighter. This is the fight for him to prove he is at that level where he can overcome tough fighters. Like Roach said, tough guys don't win fights, good boxers do. But tough guys come along to really expose if you are that type of high class fighter or not. Many break when the moment comes, we will see what Canelo is made of.

Canelo's will, mental and physical toughness will be tested that night. So will his chin. It is a test to help us get a better and wider perspective of his talent level. These fights often test the core essence of fighters.

Good post. This is the same type of test that maidana was to broner IMO.

if canelo loses or looks bad vs a limited and plodding fighter like angulo that would make floyd's win over canelo seem less significant.

Yup all of this, good one. It's the type of fight they were trying to put together a while back with P. Williams and Kirkland, but things fell through. I still don't feel like I know him as a fighter, anyone else like that

Not so much because Angulo is coming off a knockout loss. Would have been a couple years ago when Angulo was the #1 contender for Canelo's belt for over a year and couldn't get a title shot. Now that Angulo has been knocked out a couple times, it is too bad that now, all of a sudden, Canelo wants to fight him.
