Mexico's undefeated Rey Vargas (18-0, 15 KOs) will return to action on the 15th of March in Los Cabos, Baja California, Mexico - as the headliner of a card being televised by Televisa Deportes. The lanky puncher will look to extend his streak as he defends his bantamweight youth championship of the World Boxing Council (WBC).

Vargas was mentioned as an opponent for Chris Avalos on TV Azteca, but Vargas' promoter says that is "totally false."

I think this kid has the talent to become a multiple division world champion. I was at his U.S. debut on August 24th of last year on the undercard of Mares vs. Gonzalez.

He's trained by Nacho Beristain. Nacho had a pretty good night on 8/24/13 with both Vargas and Gonzalez winning their fights by knockout.
