Comments Thread For: Arum Seeking Better Judging for Burns vs. Crawford

The last time Ricky Burns fought, he escaped with a controversial split draw against Raymundo Beltran, retaining his lightweight world title in the process.

Burns will again fight in his native Scotland for his upcoming defense March 1 against mandatory challenger Terence Crawford. Crawford’s promoter, Bob Arum of Top Rank, said he’s taken preemptive measures in an attempt to make sure the judges don’t unfairly favor the local favorite.

Promoters should have nothing to do with judging, that should be completely up to the commission

Completely agree. I think promoters should even be fined for saying this kind of crap in the run up to a fight.

He just wants Crawford to get a fair shake. Ricky Burns never fights outside of the UK.

Am I the only one who kind of laughed when I saw this? Arum "looking" for better judges.
I saw it like an employment advertisement:

"Help wanted! Great benefits and competitive pay"
