Worries me when managers refuse to take any chances with their fighter. If they had as much confidence in GGG as I have, he would have cleaned out the division by now. But no he now looks like a protected fighter.
Golovkin is a 1 to 100 betting favorite against Andy Lee

They wouldn't have to bench shit if it wasn't for their exclusivity. That's the point. This model of HBO building up fighters by having their tuneups on it's network is ******ed. Those type of fights should be done outside on another network. HBO should just take a stand and tell everyone that if they want a payday, they'll have to be in tough fights. If they can't find anyone, tough noogies. Otherwise you'll just create a generation of spoiled fighters that require 3 million to be in a remotely competitive fight.
Kovalev vs Cedric Agnew another ******ed fight HBO just approved. Just look at how many mismatches have been on HBO the past few months. Is this supposed to be a good thing?
Chavez vs Lee was seen as a competitive fight at the time. Golovkin vs Lee is not. End of story.
They're already spending 3M in crap fights. The least they can do is spend it on something good. Golovkin already crossed that ratings threshold where HBO can spend decent money on him as long as it's a decent fight. And I like I said, it wouldn't even take that much. I could understand Quillin being weary fighting Golovkin so early in career for like 300k, but a near 7 figure paycheck would get it done easily. HBO has spent more in the past for lesser fights.
I agree Lee is a **** fight and very disappointing, Mora would be better than that. Lee would be ok in Monaco. But it's not a major hit on their budget, and each time they try better options. You name a top ten MW, and he's probably passed on an HBO fight with GGG. I highly doubt Quillin would get a 300k offer, freaking Curtis Stevens got that. But probably not 1m. Don't know if that's good or bad.
I don't see any problem with Kovalev Agnew. I get Agnew is unproven, so was Ward and Dirrell pre S6, and many other guys. Trout has no power and had a barren resume before facing a much bigger star in Cotto. Would you prefer Murat, or Yusaf Mack? Or rather not have him on TV unless he's fighting Stevenson or maybe Pascal?Comment

What the fcuk can they do to get these guys in the ring with him, except pay them 3x as much as they pay their champ?Comment

They have been offering good fighters the minimum. Because they really don't want to have to fight them. Kessler was offered less to fight GGG than he would have made fighting a bum on the undercard. You can offer crumbs to the better fighters and when they refuse you can say they turned you down. GGG is fighting the fighters he is by choice. Blame it on his promoter if you want but it is true.Comment

Guy, there's no other A side champ in boxing conceding a 3/4 split to B side contenders. Can you think of one? He made 400k to Stevens' 300k, and 350k to Macklin's 300k. Quillin's challengers get 125k max. Wasn't Rosado offered like 75k by Quillin's people? Macklin previously passed on 250k+ from GGG to take like 85k on a PPV undercard.Comment

Kessler was made an offer? Link? Strange they'd be the ones making the offer when Kessler gets 3m+ per fight and their guy gets 400k. He should just counter.

Back on point, Golovkin offer literally pennies for top guys to fight him. Above dude was right. Geale don't take nickle fights, Murray either. Golovkin, I heard, offered them only tree fiddy to fight!
Dude needs to stop low balling and put up big moneyComment

To clarify, the Rosado was because it would've been on a MNF card on FS1, but still got paid less than when he fought GGG...which i think was 180k... don't remember what it was against chocolate but you can check.
