Comments Thread For: Cotto, Roach To Start Camp For Martinez on April 14th

According to former three division world champion Miguel Cotto (38-4, 31KOs), an agreement to face WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez (51-2-2, 28KOs) is "95%" complete for June 7th at New York's Madison Square Garden. Only minor issues are being worked out at this moment. Cotto has already set a date for the start of his training camp, on April 14th, with Hall of Fame coach Freddie Roach. This will be the second fight where Cotto uses the services of Roach.

I guess that means no interference with the Pacquiao training camp. Good. Cotto should enjoy this camp. It may be his last.

        Here we go.

If i was cotto i would do light sparring with Quick southpaws
Work on a plan with roach and hsit the bags be in good shape going into camp .
Move his family to hollywood till the fight is over.
        Run in the sand.

Study film of every fast major southpaw that lost .
        Go into camp sharp,and prepared.

Sergio will be down the road
Hittin bags and running only. He wont spar till two weeks before and its only a few times. Sergio trains cardio ,barely spars

You sure it's going to be at 160? Knowing Cotto, he is going to try to drain an inactive Sergio.

It's kind of ridiculous when you think about it. You got Cotto's trainer, he promoter, Martinez's manager, and others all saying it is more or less done. Yet it is still not official. Maybe the holdup is the color of the ring or something?
