I had said in an other thread that I would respect Mendez for just getting in the ring with Rances in a rematch. He's like I DONT WANNA FIGHT HIM.... What I don't get is he had weighed under the limit , I think it was between 127 and 128 , doesn't seem like a guy trying to fight to make weight . If so why did he make it so easily?

Well Chavez came it at 158 against Martinez but in no way did that mean it was easy for him to make weight. Only Mendez and his team know how bad the weight loss was.

Rediculous, first off if its true ge shoulda just demanded a rematch at a catchweight or just moved up period. Iron Mike Promotions is looking real ****** right now. And hes ***in with Rances money right now. Stripping him of the belt and then not fighting him, Rances coulda just scheduled another fight as champion he took zero damage

Cuba's Rances Barthelemy (19-0, 12 KO) is furious with the rumors that Argenis Mendez (21-2-2, 11 KO) is planning to vacate his title and move up in weight to the lightweight division. Barthelemy scored a two round knockout of Mendez in January, but a protest had the decision changed to a no-contest when Minnesota Athletic Commission agreed that Barthlememy scored the knockout with two punches that came after the bell. A rematch was then ordered by the IBF.

If it's truly a weight issue then Mendez should still offer him the fight at 35 and consider a catchweight if rances wants one.

Rances wants a belt. It's the only thing the Cuban fighters can have leverage with. At 135 there wouldn't be any belt.

If ur trying to cut aren't you monitoring where ur at from time to time ? It seems to me that if ur 2 - 3 pounds under , you obviously over did it for no good reason.

If Mendez moves up I have to believe Rances gets first shot at it at this point. But then again who the hell knows ....
