It's not entirely true though. The Philly shell defense isn't suited for southpaws, but Floyd has a tendency of mixing up his approach from round-to-round against southpaws. Sometimes, he'll come out with the Philly shell when he feels like he's in total control against them.
He also uses the high guard to systematically walking them down, and uses a few variety of tactics to offset their rhythm like, feints to set up shots to the body and then work his way upstairs, etc.
