Was Khan on his way to clearly beating Barrera?

Been a long time since I've watched it but did Barrera even win a round? I remember it being pretty one-sided.

Barrera suffered the cut in his previous bout against a fighter named Freudis Rojas. Barrera only took two months between bouts which wasn't enough time.

Khan was dominating him, Barrera was getting manhandled and taking about 50 punches per round, it wasn't close to being competetive and I don't belive Barerra had the one punch power to turn it around

it was a size and age mismatch though so that's where you should be looking if you want to discredit khan

Khan doesn't lose rounds unless he get hurt, which is quite often.

Still, it makes a fight with chalk handed Floyd interesting, since he ain't likely to hurt Khan.

Khan loses a lot of rounds in the second half of the fight. Khan still has amateur endurance which is why Peterson was able to come back and beat him.

There is no reason to discredit Khan for those reasons when the blame lies solely with a referee and Doctor who conspired to keep the fight going long enough for Khan to win a decision when the fight would have been waved off and ruled a ND if it had happened anywhere with competent and even semi-impartial officials.

The cut was awful and clearly handicapped MAB from the opening round. It was a huge size mismatch with a guy who was a giant at 135 - and is now 147 - taking on a guy who was his best at 122, was beaten clearly in his fights at 130, and was fighting a non-stiff for the first and only time at 135.

In the end when the fight was stopped the cut was no worse than when it had opened. However enough time had lapsed for Khan to get an official W and the cut was suddenly a serious problem.

Calling the whole affair a fight is actually quite a stretch - it was more of a farce. As a boxing fan you had to feel bad to see a legend like MAB getting completely railroaded for the benefit of a guy like Khan who ultimately can't hold his jockstrap as a fighter.
