Fury and Wilder, ANY opponents besides that is cherrypicking and a testimony to Wladimir losing confidence in his own abilities... We have seen him beat Povetkin and Haye, we know he got potential to be an ATG, why does he ruin his own reputation by fighting bums like whatever-the-name-was of that bum he was just revealed to be fighting next? Come on, Wladimir, don't disappoint your fans...

    EDIT:
Ah, yes, the bum's name was Alex Leapai! How could I forget?? Yeah, good choice, Wladimir, even Kubrat Pulev would be a better choice. Pulev, Fury, Chisora or Wilder, NO ONE ELSE IS INTERESTING TO WATCH YOU FIGHT, SO STEP YOUR LAZY BALLS UP AND TAKE THE CHALLENGE OR FORFEIT THE BELTS! YOU'RE KILLING THE SPORT LIKE THIS!
How is Wilder more entitled to a shot than Pulev? Wilder has beaten no-one of note while Pulev has a good win v Thompson who's only losses had come to Wlad and another 1 a decade ago. In fact, Pulev has a few wins better than all of Wilder's combined. Same with Fury - to go life and death with a blown up cruiserweight and b1tch out on a mandatory challenger position twice? Leapai isn't a choice, it's a mandatory defence to keep a belt, it's the WBO's fault more than anything for their ridiculous ranking system.

After this fight, he will fight 2 or 3 top fighters this year alone (could be Wilder, Fury/Chisora/Pulev, and Stiverne/Arreola. Hopefully. A little patience goes a long way, no-one wants this fight v Leapai (least of all Wlad) but it's one of those unfortunate easy money forced fights, get it out of the way and continue with real business. If Wlad fought **** after this then you could criticise him, ATM you are really making me wonder if you are a hating troll in disguise or if you are serious...

It does. Nobody ever defeated Povetkin in pro boxing except Klitschko. Povetkin was European, World and Olympic champion in the amateurs, beating every opponent he ever faced, as well as the undefeated titlist in the pros. It does say much about Wladimir.

Povetkin was limited and should have lost against Huck. I think his best win was Chris Byrd.

So boxers are judged solely at Amateur level??

If not, explain what he has accomplished so tremendous at Professional level to make Grabimir's win look great.

I think haye/byrd/sultan/peter were his best wins. peter was dangerous back then before he got fat and lazy and I always thought ibragimov was underrated

I disagree with the premise of this post completely. Wlad's objective should not be to focus on names, but numbers.

Names/Quality of wins are SUBJECTIVE. Title defenses, Total amount of wins are OBJECTIVE. (61 is very impressive for the modern era, especially if you're not brought up in the Mexican system).

                  OBJECTIVE > SUBJECTIVE

In foresight, the guys you have mentioned would look good on his resume. But in hindsight, the revisionist consensus will be that Pulev, Fury, even Wilder were all nobodies and weren't ATG's (Common Hater fallacy: Name the amount of ATG's that Wlad has beaten).

In Conclusion: Wlad needs to keep at it and stay active. Keep making title defenses against Past-Primers, Undefeated fighters, old fighters, young fighters, Fat fighters (ex: Arreola), Tall fighters, short fighters and anything in between. Keep gunning for 20 Title defenses and over 70 wins total and don't forfeit any of your Titles (which means beat all Mandatory's).

Here is the thing. Just for theatrics, Wlad should be "ducking" Pulev just to garner some of that Margarito/Mayweather type of interest in the fight. It's all about perception. Personally I don't care about that but I like it when Wlad does the exact opposite of what the peanut gallery wants.

Floyd is a P4P fighter. A weight-division climber. A little man with no permanent home. He can choose fighters from 154 or 147, or have someone move-up from 140. Wlad doesn't have those options. He is also a PPV draw and his opponents have to meet certain requirements in order for him to justify promoting it as a once-a-year-big-event-fight.

Wlad has a different program. Even though all of his fights sell out and draw high ratings in Europe, he is a one-division activity fighter. Which means that he is all about the Titles and trying to clean out the division. Sometimes he has to recycle former victims (i.e. Tony Thompson) until the Fury's and Wilder's and Pulev's of the world are at their peak and ready for a fight with him.
