Roach is right. Exchanging with Martinez is how you catch him.

...and I really like the 154-155lb weight as well!

Regarding that weight class...Roach said the catchweight will be 159 pounds. "My guy is going to come in the ring about 154, 155, that's his best fighting weight. Weight doesn't win fights, boxing ability does. Sergio is actually a small guy himself, he's always said he's a welterweight."

The problem for Cotto is if he exchanges, he'll be taking punches from a very hard middleweight puncher. You think he can afford to pay that price against Martinez?

I respect Cotto, but Martinez will be just do much for him

Cotto's chin woes are drastically exaggerated on here. He's been put down legitimately off a punch twice in his career against one fighter. Cotto's chin problems are also tied in with his bad late fight stamina, as he seems to get hurt in the later rounds lately (Trout, Mayweather).

Roach said he's confident about the gameplan for Sergio and Cotto had a much higher workrate and pace against Rodriguez then he's had in a long time.

It's hard to take anything away from that Rodriguez fight considering it lasted 3 rounds and the competition was sub-par. Obviously he has stamina issues and a higher workrate will obviously gas him out faster. That's why I don't think a more offensive minded strategy from Roach will benefit him in this fight.

Cotto isn't necessarily weak chinned, but those knockdowns were at 140 and 147. Unless his chin improves with the added weight, I can't see him taking Martinez's punches for long. If Cotto gasses against Martinez, he is in serious trouble. Cotto looked good against Rodriguez but Rodriguez barely threw back. It's a good comeback victory but it has been a little overhyped in my opinion.
