  • Comments Thread For: Canelo: We Picked Angulo To Create Fireworks Fight

    Things didn’t go as planned for Saul “Canelo” Alvarez this past September when he suffered the first loss of his career at the hands of Floyd Mayweather on possibly the biggest stage the sport has ever provided. The former champion is now back on the comeback trail as he will be taking on Alfredo Angulo March 8th on pay per view in Las Vegas, NV at the MGM Grand.

    Alvarez admits Angulo was not his first choice as he originally pursued a bout with Puerto Rican superstar Miguel Cotto. With Cotto not willing to fight in March and now pursuing a fight with Sergio Martinez, Alvarez decided to face the charging and hard hitting Angulo as he feels the matchup will provide the excitement and action the fans covet.

      Canelo better hope he got his gas tank expanded. He don't want to get winded against Angulo.

        You should know by now, no matter who a fighter picks as an opponent, he dodged someone else.

          Sheesh why so defensive about this fight every other article is them excusing this pick like they know they sidesteped people or something they should relax both dudes coming of losses cant rly talk much **** for this one, and that is all they gotta say we come off a loss end of story,but now if the winner still quietly tip toeing around the top guys after this one then it's time to talk ****.

            They don't need any excuses, everyone knows why they picked Angulo and who in their right mind(that isn't a Lara fan) would fight it? This is the right fight for Canelo right now, and it's guaranteed to deliver. Besides being a PPV where is the downside?

              Here's to hoping the cherrypick fails.

                How is this a cherry pick? More than a few people are picking Angulo to win this fight

                  PPV is a pretty big downside for this fight other than that I cant b*tch much about it both guys coming off losses so the matchmaking makes sense, but hard to swallow this as a ppv doesn't matter how many fireworks you promise you can get fireworks seeing two bums fight each other, but what makes fights great for me is finding out who the best of the best is which this fight wont show. But then again at least is not a fight where is a complete shutout for a guy I think Angulo can pull the upset or at least take Canelo to some deep waters .

                    Trout-> Mayweather -> Angulo.

                    That's a solid three fight stretch for a so called protected fighter. It seems to me that Canelo isn't afraid to take any challenge and he won't let his promoter hold him back anymore. I'm sure if he beats Angulo, Cotto/Martinez winner or Lara will be next (hopefully Lara).
