I mean it's not even like we're talking about a guy who made it to the top and won a title and has some losses, etc.... The man is not only undefeated, but all of his wins have come in under 4 rounds. Maybe he is "unproven," but how do you know he's not on Wards level? Ward had a worse "resume" then Kovalev at one point in his career too, you know

And that last sentence doesn't even make sense...... Why do people fall in love with every guy that can box to a 12 round decision? He hasn't been "exposed" yet... as of now he is undefeated and could very well unify the titles and win the lineal championship and possibly fight and beat Ward. We don't know..... whats worse then people "falling in love with guys who hit hard" is you automatically discrediting him and don't want him to be talked about simply because he "hits hard." I don't know how everyone is "in love" with him..... He's an undefeated titleholder and went 4-0 last year on national tv, he deserves to be talked about.

Also, you're making the assumption that every fighter who gets KO's is just a mindless brawler who only hits hard. Kovalev can box.
    Fair enough. We'll see.

He can be outboxed too, by all accounts that guy Beterbiev beat him every time they fought. I believe I read Kovalev got tired of losing to him and decided to turn pro.

As to Ward, I believe weight classes matter and it's difficult to draw any judgement on him until he is tested at 175.

His username is "Sergey" and he appears to know more about Kovalev's Russian management than anyone else that I've seen on here. I think he claimed to understand Russian before too. Perhaps he'll clarify.
"Sergey" it's like tongue in cheek I guess. The guy is OK -- he only has some issues with HBO and Kovalev... Nothing else noticeable...

Of course, I'm not saying he cannot be outboxed. I'm just saying he's not a mindless brawler who has no technical boxing skill. it's a misconception which a lot of people like to say that when they see a guy getting KO's (similar to Golovkin) Anyway, anyone can be outboxed, as far as Kovalev goes- its yet to happen in the pros

For the record, Beterbiev is a very talented fighter as well.

The guy who KOd Kovalev at the amateurs was the Uzbek southpaw Abbos Atoev... Atoev also beat Beterbiyev in the final of the World championships in 2007. Atoev is 175 cm...

                    What did I say above?

In 2012 he went down at the middleweight.
