Which version of Hopkins was superior?

The one that fought Jones(1st time) or the one that fought Calzaghe?

Personally i thought the version that fought Jones was superior. Ppl like to say Hopkins was green when he fought Jones but in my opinion he wasn't that green, he was just against that great a fighter. The Hopkins that fought Calzaghe lacked the stamina to beat the truly elite.

For example I would never see the Hopkins that lost to Jones losing to the likes of Jermain Taylor.

The one that fought Jones, I agree but that wasn't the best Hopkins, not green either as some people say.

Hopkins really hit his stride from about the Mercado fight onwards and lost his prime in the Taylor fights.

He was too careful vs Taylor even when he had his man hurt. And running around the ring was terrible vs Calzaghe. Wasted his own energy and joe is so agile and well coordinated not letting him set his feet to punch ain't gonna do ****.

I'd say the older Hopkins against Calzaghe were better, he was slower, but still fast. But the way he is fighting the last 5 years is just what the sweet science is all about. I mean, he's always been a great fighter, but I think the age gave him something, that a lot of fighters never gets. He adapted to his age, better than anyone in the history of boxing (from what I know).

The one that fought Jones the first time would be better. Hopkins was still learning when he fought Jones the first time. He started boxing late because of being in prison so long. The Hopkins that fought Joe was a very old boxer.
