Anthony Mundine has expressed interest in fighting Lara in his quest to get a fight with FMJ.
This would be an interesting match. Here is what I think:
Mundine has the clear advantage in speed and power. He was a former Super Middleweight champion and has shown he can bring his power down in weight as seen in his last fight where Mosley was shaken after every right hand landed by Mundine. His hand speed and accuracy is on par with Floyds. However, Mundine has more single shot speed rather than combination/flurry speed. Mundine is also the taller fighter and naturally bigger man. He has impregnable defense but is known to struggle against busy/pressure fighter (such as Daniel Geale).
Erislandy Lara is the better technical boxer and is a natural 154 pounder. He is younger, more dynamic and an overall better boxer.
Most of Mundines losses are circumstantial. His 1st loss was for a world title against Sven Ottke in Germany after only 10 pro fights (no amateur fights). He lost to Mikkel Kessler in a competitive fight (Kessler being in his prime and the hottest shot in boxing at the time).
I think Mundine wins by KO as he will be too much for Lara. Otherwise Lara by SD.
