People who talk smack about Arum are also people who probably couldn't do a better job themselves with any fighter they're describing.
Everyone ****s on Arum for his handling of Rigo... I hate to break it to you but people weren't talking about Rigo when Arum wasn't saying anything about him. His win over Donaire was quality, but the only people who gave a **** are fanboys online. The people who paid to see that fight were booing it. Ratings for Rigo were literally half of his undercard fight, people literally turned the TV off because they didn't care about his fight. Bob Arum can't force people to care about Rigo, especially when your casual viewer watching him is literally changing the channel.
Someone brought up that Bradley was offered 1.3 million or something to fight Khan... but in his last three fights with Top Rank he's made at least 12 million dollars and I think he's set to make another 6 million against Pacquiao. That's a boatload of money. The guys saying "he should move to Golden Boy" never really say what they think Golden Boy (a company with Mayweather, Alvarez, and Broner all fighting for PPV spots) is going to pay Bradley to fight with them. Chances are that aside from Bradley as a Mayweather opponent, he wouldn't make **** with that company. Robert Guerrero was a Mayweather opponent in a somewhat similar situation to Bradley (skilled, proven fighter at a lower weight class without a huge fanbase) and now Golden Boy can't seem to find him a fight worth any real money.
All boxing promoters are going to appear shady because boxing is a shady business. It is a literal bloodsport, built off the efforts of human beings. Nobody who does business in boxing is untouched, even as fans we're made into worse people for enjoying the sport. Look at how many are still posting even after what happened to Magomed Abdusalamov last year. We all enjoyed that fight and now a man's life is ruined because of it. We're lucky we don't have to deal with that stuff up close and personally.
Maybe some fans can ask the question of what kind of person would want to get into a dirty business like boxing anyway, but as a boxing fan posting on a boxing forum I personally don't think any of us here have the moral authority to make judgments. We're getting entertainment out of two humans fighting each other at the end of the day, there is no moral high ground here (or if there is, it's not very far up).
