The Official Canelo Alvarez-Alfredo Angulo RBR & Discussion Thread

I was thinking the exact same thing as he made his way to the ring.
At the time I just wrote it off as his wanting to conserve energy. I even felt the first couple of rounds was all about strategy and Angulo trying to get Canelo to tire out before he turned it on (which I thought was a smart move).
But I was wrong in both cases. For whatever reason, he was just flat. I hate to throw out random speculation I have absolutely no hard evidence for, but maybe something happened in his personal life right before the fight? I don't know.
That said, I in no way want to disparage Canelo’s victory. Flat or not, Canelo is just in a higher class in my opinion.Comment

Canelo was throwing power shots from the jump and countering nearly every punch Angulo threw. That's what caused Angulo to be gun-shy, he was getting visibly stunned and not reacting intelligently. Regardless of whether or not it was 'fixed', Virgil Hunter was already contemplating on stopping the fight, and Angulo did look genuinely upset with the ref's decision.Comment

Is this stuff going to happen everytime a power fighter loses to a boxer/counter puncher? Posters need to learn that power and brawling is only going to get you so far.Comment
