Speaking on the microphone is more difficult than it looks. Without proper training you would probably **** up on your first try because you expect it to be like communicating with someone, but it is not. In normal conversations you generally have more help carrying the conversation, so there isn't exactly an expectation to have fully functioning paragraphs.

It's nothing to do with his education, it's just an inability to articulate and no interest in trying. Plenty of highly intelligent people are terrible on a mic (not that Floyd is one of them).
