Gary Russell Jr.'s weights for his last three fights were 127, 127, and 126.8. That's over the Featherweight limit, so he's a Super Featherweight.

Russell Jr. turned down Ponce De Leon when he was still at 126. Even if he wasn't though, I'm sure a catch weight of 128 would be fine since Russell Jr. hasn't made 126 in a while.

Gonzalez is a proven champ, he has the right to turn down a nobody like Russell Jr., whereas Russell Jr. is a nobody who doesn't have the right to be turning good fights down if he wants a title shot in the future.
