Comments Thread For: Groves: Carl Froch Embarrassed Himself Pretty Badly!

George Groves is confident he will get his rematch with Carl Froch as the war of words between the two English super-middeweights continues.

Froch, 36, held on to his IBF world title in a classic bout in November - but only after the 25-year-old Groves had knocked the champion down during a whirlwind opening round.

'The Cobra' continued to endure some heavy punishment into the middle rounds but produced several telling shots in the ninth - prompting referee Howard Foster Jr to controversially halt proceedings in the Nottingham fighter's favour.

I don't think Froch will face him again, nor would it be wise for him to. Froch is looking about as battle worn as Martinez did in his last bout. Modern legends like that don't need to exit the way Ali did. They need to just cash out on low-risk/high reward fights. It's work after all, not a battle for land.

@ Redd Fox i appreciate and Respect your post but Carl Froch is obsessed with his LEGACY and his fight with Groves has left a bad taste in everyone's mouth's and i reckon this alone will force Froch to get back in there with Groves... It was an early stoppage but as good as Groves was early on Carl was starting to land and we all know he has heavy hands saying that Groves might of survived and he was well ahead on points its a hard one they need to go again and settle it !!!

Howard Foster ****ed froch over because froch was about to grind him down for a legit stoppage.

Sadly, froch now HAS to rematch groves tbh and i dont think he'll win a rematch as he'll be even more faded this time.

Still a 55/45 fight in carls favour but it WAS stopped too soon. There needs to be a rematch, Carl was so hurt he couldn't even remember being down!
It was Froch who said a lot of disrespectful personal things before the fight and Groves only spoke of Carls boxing short comings which he was able to backup.
I for one don't want to see a Ward master-class again and certainly don't want to see him against the very, at best average Chavez jr.
The money, the venue, the everthing is there for one of the most highly anticipated rematches in English history.
It may be that Groves is in Frochs head now, who knows only time will tell.
If Froch dosn't sign then.....oh dear ..big mistake , if he does could be the same big mistake!

            He's obsessed.

Froch is looking his age now; Groves may UD him in a rematch.

GROVES hurt FROCH like nobody ever did in all of his carreer,HEARN was shocked watching WARD's rematch flying away from the window but the fight was fixed(judges scorecards were a shame)and it was stopped at the very first occasion;anyway GROVES performed so well that ruined HEARN's plans for future fights of FROCH. At the end of the day this rematch is a big event in Great Britain and money involved are good, the only one hurt is FROCH's soul who believed he was at CALZAGHE level!!! If GROVES win the rematch by stoppage or wide decision ? Imagine guys, imagine!!!

Groves is talking a lot already, if this rematch gets signed the build-up is going to be spiteful.

@Weebler.....you could be very, very right there.

If Froch does sign up for the rematch then he will come right at George physically and mentally; no gentleman's stuff or trying to be the older, considered statesman like last time.

Froch came up the hard way - read his book - and I think his disatisfaction with the last fight will add the pint of vinegar that was missing last time. He's a hard, intense dude and actually likes to be backed into corners/written off.....so George had better be ready for a far nastier, focussed guy.

if it happens its a 50/50, i wrote groves off before the fight, and froch off half way through, but who could predict how good groves was, or tough carl really is. i wont be writing either off next time.
