What will boxers look like in 500 years time?

If you think, if we transported Lennox Lewis back to when Bob Fitzsimmons was fighting, he would kinda look different from your typical fighter of that day.

Bob Fitzsimmons being the 1st british HW champ, at 5 foot 11 inches and 77 kg thats 12 stone, or 169 pounds. 71 inch reach. He was also white with freckles.

Then you compare him to a modern British HW champion in Lennox Lewis who is 6 foot 5 with an 84 inch reach, weighs 116 kg or 255 pounds or 18 stone, is also black with long braded hair worn up in a bun sometimes during a fight.

Well thats quite a stark difference.

So that leads me to my next question what will boxers look like say 500 years from now?

Humanity will be dead in 500 years, or far gone from Earth.

they may have iron jaws, but they also have iron fists to equal it out

humans are not leaving the solar system [or even colonizing mars] in 500 years. certainly not in large numbers.

you seriously underestimate the amount of technology that goes into interstellar travel. the closest neighboring star is several lightyears away, and there is no guarantee that it will have habitable planets in its orbit.

that's 300,000,000 meters every second for several years. it's a long, long way.

a welterweight will still have to weigh 147 lbs at some point [a day early, for the sake of argument.] weight class boxers wouldn't "look" all that different.

No problem, we will have cured aging by then.

We can sling shot around jupiter and get a nice cruising speed on.

All you need is a game-boy to keep you occupied and its problem solved.

If propulsion has not improved to close to the speed of light, it would take many generations to reach habitable worlds-which would mean monstrous sized space ships with liveable areas so that people can be normal-sort of- and not driven crazy. It would mean miniature universities inside the ships to keep knowledge from stultifying. I don't think this is practical....but I'm no astrophysicist/anthropologist/biologist etc and know nothing of whatever human behaviour experts do...

Astronomy these days has found possibly habitable planets, but so far away that it would require a fool-proof system of cryonic suspension as well as the speed above mentioned, PLUS a double-double fool-proof technology to avert space junk, or tiny asteroids, and, most importantly, a super-dooper fool-proof technology to wake up the important people when the right time approaches.

I feel that even though science and technology is progressing by leaps and bounds, there are all too many practices which have progressed very little since the early 1900s, perhaps slicker and faster, but people still have to be opened up like butchers' carcasses to replace clogged arteries etc.

There is a definite limit to longevity -although extended to a finite term only because of better hygiene and antibiotics- an accidental discovery which came into use around in the 1940s and still the best means of fighting certain diseases.

Personally I have arranged for cryonic suspension, and can only hope that it works. I've been a follower of Robert Ettinger ever since I read his wonderful first book, and used to correspond regularly with him, and with his second wife Mae. Real people.

Oh yes, I nearly forgot, I have a feeling-just a feeling mind you- that boxers in 500 years will either be con****uous by their complete absence, due to it having been banned for it's brutality. Alternately, any existing boxers will be clad in fencing style garments with electric sensors able to register "touches", and boxers will be penalised if the "touch" is too hard.......

Just take a look at all those who have been using Roids and hgh Pacquio, Mayweather, Ward, Marquez, Toney, Hopkins, Mosley and others out there who haven't been caught or had their positive test thrown in the dumpster. Does that answer your question. But I think from 160 to Heavyweight will be ruled by Eastern block countries. US fighters will be to lazy from the ****** rat moms producing future criminals and EBT welfare leeches.
