Do people really believe that Mayweather is retiring Sep 2015?

This will be his 3rd or 4th retirement. I'm pretty sure he'll step away for possibly a year or so, then will come back for boxing's biggest pay day. Wash and repeat until he loses.

I don't think he can walk away like Lewis and Calzaghe.

I don't think he loves the sport, but he definitely loves the fame. During his last retirement he would show up at all the fights just so the media could ask him when he was going to fight again only for him to say "I'm done" with a huge smile on his face. He loves it--you can tell he loves the big stage and money. That's what will reel him back.

If he's undefeated he may fight after that but if loses between then yeah he surely gone.

If he gets to 49-0, there's no way in hell he doesn't get lured back for the 50th fight. He'll sit back and watch as HBO and Showtime try to outbid each other

If he's 49-0, I guarantee he will make at least a one fight comeback for something huge when he's around 41 years old just because the money would be HUGE. By then its fine if Floyd loses because he has the excuse of being an old fighter.

No way do I see him making a Foreman like comeback

Yes. I don't believe he enjoys boxing anymore. From the point of wanting to challenge himself and take on the best.

At this stage in his career he is just trying to take the easiest fight with the biggest payout. He's just setting up his retirement pension so he can retire comfortably, undamaged and in good health.

Nothing he does from now until 2015 will be for legacy anymore.

No he wont. Its pretty convenient that he wants to "retire" at what would be 49-0

I believe he will retire Sept 2015. He can't afford to take a year off, specially not with his style of fighting and at 40.
