MEMPHIS – Promising, world-ranked southpaw Ivan Redkach (16-0, 13 KO’s), of Los Angeles, by way of Ukraine, passed the toughest challenge of his career, scoring one knockdown en route to a unanimous 10-round decision over Canada’s Tony Luis (17-2, 7 KO’s), but the night belonged to “The Brooklyn Rocky” Frank “Notorious” Galarza (12-0-2, 8 KO’s), of Brooklyn, N.Y., who registered an exciting second-round knockout over John “Apollo Kidd’’ Thompson (14-1, 5 KO’s), of Newark, N.J., Friday on ShoBox: The New Generation live on SHOWTIME® from Cook Convention Center. entertaining, limited fighter. get him in there with arakawa-san.

i caught the fight this morning. these 10PM start times kill me, especially with a long card. it's one thing if it's on a saturday night, but it's entirely something different on a friday.

anybody catch redkach's self uppercut? shades of tyson fury.

That Luis kid, what a pitbull. I thought he was on something, moving and throwing like it was the first round every damn round. Big heart and will, the kid has balls. He made Redkach look really uncomfortable though the entire fight.

The type of fight that one won because of being the most effective but the other kind of made the strongest impression.

it was an awesome fight for a shobox. it definitely renewed my faith in the program.

farhood and his click seemed to really enjoy it as well.

I loved it man. From the pre-fight shots of the fighters listening to music and preparing mentally, to the interviews, to the good detailed background stories of all fighters (I felt like I knew all of them well by the end of the night); it was just a very good production all around.

By the way, what round did that uppercut take place at? I don't remember catching it. I was also surprised at how the same ref worked 3 of the 4 fights last night! I liked his refereeing a lot though.

And they kill me too man, it was 11PM here when it started and during the last fight (around 1-2AM) I was almost gone.

1:50 in round 9. right before luis slips and ends up leaning through the ropes.

redkach has his back to the ropes on the left side of the ring.

Much props to Luis. Dude doesn't look like much of a fighter, but he had mad heart. He came to win. What a game effort.

Redkach though -- he was the physically superior fighter but he wasn't anything special. Certainly didn't appear to me to be the hot prospect they were making him out to be.

The funny thing is the first 2 fights he worked went smooth. Then he really earned his paycheck with the last one, getting verbally abused by the managers, corners and getting attitude from Luis lol.

Just saw it. Lucky he didn't throw it with much force, he was leaning into it more than Fury was.
