    Good insight TS,

I do believe that Ward is more the type of the guy who doesn't want to challenge himself and is content with his current status. Plus Kovalev is up there.

Joe didn't move up til his last 2 fights and had already had 20 defenses at 168. Give ward time, he still has fights with Chavez jr, ggg, froch 2, Andre dirrell, Anthony dirrell, groves, degale, Stieglitz, bika 2 over the next few years.. Before it's all said and done ward will go to light heavy, just takes time

You really want to bring up Joe’s defenses? How many of those fighters were in the top 10 in their division?

Ward to most, has a better record than Calzaghe, and he is still in the prime of his career. The fact comparison threads already exist should say something about a guy who not only retired, but retired undefeated. Ward so far, has not taken an easy fight like Joe did for a majority of his career.

If you like Calzaghe, thats fine, but don’t be delusional.

Ward will move up soon, and the rest of his career will be at 175, not two fights like Joe.
You can't be serious. The Bika and Kessler Joe fought were all together different beasts than when SOG got to them.

Andre Ward will do what is best for Andre Ward. He became the no.1 SMW in a uniquely hard way through the super six. No other boxer in any division got to the No.1 spot by fighting the best of their division back to back. I know there was the Bute ? at the time but Froch clarified that ? to the doubters.
If he wants to try to cash in with marque names like Pavlik and Chavez jr then I think he earned that right.

If you ever saw Bhop and RJJ would you actually say "hey look two 40 year old men"?

I realize Andre Ward is younger than Calzaghe was when he moved up, but the 168 division is weaker now, and Ward has nothing left to accomplish in that division.

Why can't Andre Ward go up to light heavyweight and try to become a two-division champ? He fought at light heavyweight, and he's big and thickly-built.

Moving up from 168 to 175 isn't that big of a deal. Years ago, the 168 division didn't even exist. Ward would have HAD to fight at 175 back in the day.
He's constantly saying that he plans to move up eventually, give the guy some time!

Joe moved up in his second last fight and had been a pro for 15 years before he took on B-Hop! And how is the 168 division weaker than when Calzaghe was fighting? The best fighter at 168 that Joe fought was Mikkel Kessler, guess what he's still fighting! There's also Froch, Groves, DeGale, the Dirrell's, Chavez, Badou Jack, Rodriguez! Just because a guy is dominant does not mean it's a weak division!

How is competing in the super six not challenging yourself!? Just because none of them remotely troubled Ward doesn't mean he wasn't challenging himself! It just means he's a unique talent

Ward will suck **** to get the Chavez Jr fight. There's nowhere near as much money in a fight with Stevenson

Joe Calzaghe fought at 168 for a whole eternity. Then at 36 finally moved up to 175.

Andre Ward is merely 29 years old and just blew up in late 2009 with his Kessler win. He has 4 years being a top fighter. Calzaghe was a top fighter for about 9-10 years when he fought Hopkins. Terrible comparison.
                    4? What about minus inactivity?

Technically you could say that Ward has already beaten who was lineal light heavyweight champion at the time in Dawson, who is still one of my favorite fighters.
