CORRECTED: Gonzalez has proven himself to be a tremendous fighter over a 13-14 year career. Russell has been a pro 5 years now and hasn't fought anyone yet. He has skills but hasn't once proven himself against a good fighter. Not to mention his fragile hands. He doesn't stand a chance against someone like Gonzalez. I'm don't thinks he's beats guys like Ponce and Salido either.Comment

Gonzalez is better off waiting for Mares.
Why risk taking a fight, losing and then losing the luster of a Mares/Gonzalez rematch.
Wait on Mares. He has done nothing throughout his career that would indicate he's faking an injury.Comment

This topic is similar to employers telling people with high degrees that they don't have enough experience for the job . If that's a legitimate logic , how does anyone get to pinnacle of there acclaim ? Cause no one starts with experience .Comment

Russell and Jayson Velez are the only two guys ranked highly by the WBC that aren't glorified cab drivers, and neither of those guys have really earned a shot yet. He'll probably want to make an easy defense against #2 ranked Robinson Castellanos.Comment

Yes he has , he got KTFO . That's enough to get anyone to rethink their strategyComment

If Russell doesn't "DESERVE" a Gonzalez fight , who really deserves a Flyod fight ? Kahn ? Manny ? Really !!! If that's the crazy logic were using then Floyd is too overqualified to be fight anyone @ 147 or 154 so he should just retireComment

Gonzalez doesn't want to lose and also lose out on a big payday with Mares rematch. Most posters here would call that a duck.Comment
