I did not vote because none of the options is how I feel ab out him. I think he is a great puncher but I want to see him fight a top 10 guy to see how he takes a punch and to see if he still gets quick KOs against stronger opposition.
Do you BELIVE in Deontay Wilder?

This didn't just accidentally happen for no reason that he fights these awful opponents, if he was any good he would have been up against someone decent before 30 pro fights, he is paper chinned hype with no skills and a big punch.Comment

he's a HW who isn't even done filling out yet. he also got a late start in boxing. he is in no rush at all.
wilder's been moved fine. he needs rounds. bsceners don't have the patience for it, but it's not the first time that's been the case. there's a reason bsceners don't control the careers of potential million dollar athletes.Comment

Hmmmm..Wilder has wins over good journeyman/trial horses like: Beck,Manswell, and Firtha. He has wins over world-class fighters like: Liakovich(former WC) and Fraudley Harrsion (Gold Medalist). His resume is not great, believe me its not Holyfied-esque, but for a guy moving up the ranks who is 30-0 with 30 KO, its not bad either. The plan is move to him up slowly as he is still learning the sport. Time will tell with the Bronze Bomber.I think Pulev has the tools to win against many of the other contenders at the moment. He's big and tough and can box, but he's all right for Wlad. I just think it will be a completely one-sided affair with Wlad stopping him in 12 (if he can pull himself together and go for the kill). That's why I don't see it as particularly interesting and with all due respect to Ustinov and Dimitrenko, they are no where near on Wlad's level despite being similar in size or bigger than him.
No he's not.
He hasn't even beaten a fringe contender, so he can't be considered anything other than a prospect still. Which is sad considering he's had more fights than many of the other contenders.Comment

He is almost 30 years old NE pretty sure he has filled out, they could get him some rounds if they wouldn't match him against such awful bums but then he would probably get beat due to having no skills and most likely no chin either and by someone like Kevin Johnson.he's a HW who isn't even done filling out yet. he also got a late start in boxing. he is in no rush at all.

he hasn't filled out, dawg. he's not 30, either. he just turned 28 a few months ago. HW take a hell of a lot longer to mature physically, especially those with length. they peak later in life. it takes longer to teach them how to coordinate their bodies. he is in no rush, the way you'd be rushing a 28 year old bantamweight.
what's even more important with wilder is that he learns how to box. he's been 53 rounds as a pro. he's never been more than four rounds.
that is not a fighter who is ready to be a contender and in fights that might go 12.
kevin johnson, dominick guinn, are two guys i would match him with as soon as possible. he needs opponents who will go rounds. they've been trying to do that for a while, and he's knocked the guys out.
they definitely wanted him to go rounds when they matched him with liakhovich. same with firtha.
wilder's being moved fine. they're not risking taking too long with him. he's a HW, and an american one with possible star quality. he could make millions if they position him correctly without a loss. he had almost no amateur career, in spite of the bronze.
you just need to be patient.Last edited by New England; 01-16-2014, 12:16 PM.Comment

this right here.
peopel who want to rush wilder are those who either don't understand what he needs, or don't care.
you're talking about a potential million dollar athlete. HW make bank. they always have. i don't think these guys understand just how much you risk by not moving an american HW correctly.Comment

They were world class. Just because they were at one point doesn't mean they are forever. If you think they were world class when he beat them.... well, I don't know what to say

He is a full grown man at 28 he is not going to fill out another 25lbs because he is just naturally build like a basketball player and no they have not been trying to get him rounds they have been matching him against softies to build a meaningless ko record because people will buy into it which they eventually have now thinking he could be a serious contender which I doubt he can.he hasn't filled out, dawg. he's not 30, either. he just turned 28 a few months ago. Haven't you been watching boxing for some time? I have, we have seen this before and all signs point to hypejob he just needs to meet his HW version of Carson Jones.Comment
