    Legendary old school talk.
I wish him good luck on that two bouts.
He's still able to pass through Stevenson/Kovalev winner to gain that absolute champion rank once again.

It seems like just yesterday everyone was saying Pavlik was gunna retire Hopkins. The guy is a testament to clean living.

Kovalev had the opportunity to face Hopkins after his last fight on NBC sports but Kathy Duva chose to fight Cleverly instead as Cleverly was the obvious easier fight. Fact.

Hopkins had the opportunity to fight his mandatory Kovalev and Showtime and Richard Schaefer were on record saying that they rejected the fight. Duva clearly said they would fight Cleverly because since showtime rejected Hop-Kov, they felt they would vacate the title and they said Kovalev was not interested in fighting for a vacant title. Fact

They then proceeded to fight Karo Murat, after publicallt stating they were not interested in Kovalev because he is not well known enough in the United States. Fact

How many of the fighters you refer to were as experienced and smart as Bernard? How many lived as clean as Bernard? How many trained as hard as Bernard? How many were actually in the physical and mental shape to prove it?

Father time eventually defeats us all, but I think that unlike so many veteran fighters who retired too late, Bernard has the wisdom and true awareness of his mind-body state to know where he's at and what he's capable of.

As a long-time BHop fan I'm obviously biased, but I think that if any fighter is able to know where his physical limits are and not foolishly push beyond them, Bernard is the one. What's amazing is that, even at nearly 50 years of age, Bernard's limits are still greater than those of opponents who are ~20 years his junior.

Ageless wonder! He should become a trainer and then go off and become a promoter outside of GBP. He could excel at all three.

I believe it was after the Traver fight in 2006 when he said jokingly that he felt he could fight until he was 50...at the time even he didn't take himself seriously when he said it and look how things went. I still really enjoy watching the master and have no doubt I will get see him make history at 50.
