Comments Thread For: Alfredo Angulo: Canelo Fight Will Sell Very Well on PPV

Golden Boy Promotions recently announced that they have finalized the March 8th Showtime pay-per-view showdown between junior middleweights Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and Alfredo "El Perro" Angulo.

Two years ago, Angulo was in an ICE detention center in El Centro, California waiting for his visa problems to be ironed out so that he could resume his career in the United States. I asked the Mexicali, Mexico native to reflect on the range of emotions he felt while inside of the detention center, not knowing when he would be released, to finding out that he was being given the biggest fight of his career.

It should sell well on PPV. It's the reason they chose Angulo as the opponent so it could sell.

i buy virtually all major ppv. i spend $20 a month each on showtime and hbo

i will stream this fight as a sign of protest.

if the undercard isn't stacked beyond belief, they are not getting a ppv buy out of NE.

We all love Angulo and he will make it an exciting fight..Matter of fact more exciting than a fight with Lara... But I don't appreciate them shoving this Nelo guy down our throats because he is NOT as good as they want to believe...If he fought Lara who is the true champ at 154, I would buy in a heartbeat and even though Angulo will bring it, no way he should be fighting Nelo after Lara beat Angulo and Trout way more convincingly than Nelo. And for the record it's not Canelo who's afraid of Lara, but those behing him who knows Lara will school him..

how on earth is lara "the true champ at 154?"
off of a victory over austin trout?

i like lara. he's a very good boxer. he's forced to take on all comers because of his lack of fanfare. he's shown in the past that he is tough. he fought through some gross swelling in the williams fight [lara won that fight, but williams was clearly done,] and two big knockdowns against angulo.

lara's not a bad fighter at all, but he's extremely overrated on bscene.

the champion at 154 is floyd mayweather. he'll have to be inactive at the weight for a while for that championship to be vacated.

For the sake of my Yank friends, I hope they have a Broner-Maidana type epiphany and take this **** off PPV.

                    What?

                    Lara:
                    Molina
                    Williams
                    Hernandez
                    Vanes
                    Angulo
                    Trout

                    Floyd:
                    Cotto. Past prime version.
Canelo. Never beat anybody to merit his position in the rankings.

Lara is the best 154 fighter.
