Fights which prove fighters are getting worse?

Old George Foreman & Larry Holmes mixing with and beating some of the 90's top heavyweights, e.g old Larry Holmes beat Mercer better than Lewis did years later. Then an old Lewis beating Vitali Klitshcko who was the best Heavyweight of the current era. Old Whitaker mixing and arguably beating young Oscar who went on to be one of the best of his era.

I think it's quite sad the decline of fighters we are seeing today and only Andre Ward (29) and Canelo (wtf - 23) are in the Rings top 10 fighters today below the age of 30.

It could be that. But I tend to think that those fighters were just that much smarter and filled with so much boxing knowledge at that advanced stage and they applied it very well against far younger fighters.

holmes and foreman are the exception to the rule,,

I think that the main reason that we have such few 20-somethings on the elite level is because the dont fight as often as the did years ago, especially early in their careers...
Use to be a fighter would fight 7-12 times a year for his first few years and by age of 25 or so the would have the experience needed to compete at the elite level. Nowadays guys like gary russel jr, etc just dont stay active enough early in their careers, so they dont reach the mountain top till they are in their 30s

Yeah a lil while before that people used to retire with 100+ fights, and fight every 2 weeks or twice in one and **** like that. That is what i call being forged through real fire. As we gradually became more aware of the damage that can cause the amount of fights has gone down gradually too.

Meaning society became more pussy and boxing became more pussy as well what did you expect ....I say let em fight and get up with no 8 count like the good old days

Only downside is fighters will start dropping and not getting up ever like flies tho.....pretty big downside I think on second thought ill stick with today's rules.

A prime Miguel Cotto (one of my favorite), one the best of his era, unable to beat clearly a 36 years old Shane Mosley.
A prime Timothy Bradley not really shining against an aging 40 Juan Manuel Marquez who is clearly not a natural welterweight...

Andre Berto, Adrien Broner - Al Haymon fights which are overhyped and lack of substance.

                  Keith's also somewhat overrated.
