Comments Thread For: Roman Gonzalez Will Continue With Super Champion

Nicaraguan boxer Román "Chocolatito" González (37-0, 31KOs) has not fought in the junior flyweight division in over a year. However, that is no problem for the World Boxing Association (WBA), who are going to keep him as the super champion of the 108 pound division. This status is maintained despite already having signed a request for reclassification in the flyweight division, where Gonzalez intends to pursue a third title. Although the next opponent has not been defined, Gonzalez is set to return in March on a card being organized by Teiken Promotions in Japan.

Why does the WBA keep him as champion in the 108lbs division when he's campaigning in the flyweight (112lbs) division now and has asked the WBA to reclassify him as a flyweight and put him in the ranking in the flyweight division.
He will probably not even fight as an 108lbs fighter anymore due to not being able to make that weight class.
Also Kazuto Ioka is the regular title holder and Alberto Rossel is the interim title holder at 108lbs
